Overview

Universal Humanoid Wardrobe is a modular, high-performance character equipment and customization framework built for Unity 6. Designed as an official Unity Package (UPM), it enables seamless hot-swapping of weapons, armor, accessories, and clothing across any standard Humanoid avatar without duplicating bone hierarchies or modifying host skeletons.

Core Equipping Paradigms

The framework operates on two distinct, complementary attachment paradigms:

1. Rigid Socket Attachment: Weapons, shields, helmets, and jewelry parent directly to standard HumanBodyBones transforms with customizable local position/rotation offsets and automatic left-hand mirroring.

2. Skinned Mesh Remapping: Wearable clothing, cuirasses, and boots dynamically bind their bone weights to the host character skeleton at runtime with zero overhead.

The wardrobe core remains completely gameplay-agnostic — managing visual state, socket transforms, and bone bindings while decoupling cleanly from inventory, stats, and combat logic.

Features & Architecture

• Multi-Slot Occupancy: Atomic conflict handling for complex equipment (e.g. two-handed greatswords occupying both MainHand and OffHand simultaneously).
• Deterministic Events: Strict event dispatch for item equipped, unequipped, and swap notifications.
• Zero Allocations: Cache-friendly bone dictionary mapping and preallocated transform queries avoid garbage collection spikes in gameplay.
• Open Source: Fully free and MIT-licensed for commercial and personal Unity projects.
